Marigold extract

Description:

The products are purified dry extracts obtained from marigold flowers, according to an innovative technology that allows to isolate marigold carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin) with minimal losses.
The final product is produced both in the form of total extracts, standardized for the content of lutein and zeaxanthin, as well as for extracts standardized for the content of zeaxanthin (from 5%), or for the content of lutein (5%, 10%).

Active substances:

The marigold flowers contain valuable carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin. These are yellow-orange-colored compounds that are responsible for the red-orange color of marigold flowers.

Act:

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are two single carotenoids found in the blood and all body tissues, including the central part of the retina, called the «yellow spot.» Here it plays the role of an antioxidant and absorbs the active radiation of the blue part of the spectrum, thereby protecting the sensitive receptors of the eye, such as rods and cones, from damage. Carotenoids not only protect the eyes from damage, but also contribute to regenerative processes by supporting collagen synthesis.

Pharmaceuticals

Lutein can be applied to the quality of eye protection (ophthalmoprotector). Lutein is shown to protect against the retinal macular degeneration and reduces the risk of cataracts.

Food industry

It is recommended for adding to yoghurts, cereals, muesli, in the production of bakery products, various soft and alcoholic beverages, herbal teas, fortified foods. Among other things, lutein and zeaxanthin are used as dyes in the food industry in the production of food and beverages.

Veterinary medicine

The marigold extract dry gives the brightness of pet hair. It is used in the composition of the means to improve vision. It is also important in industrial poultry farming, where it helps to get a pleasant coloration of the skin of birds and the darker and more saturated color of egg yolk.
