Vitamin U

Properties. Crystalline powder, white or white with a slightly yellowish tinge, with a specific smell, sweetish taste. Hygroscopic. Easily soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. It is not steady in the light.

Action and application. The drug is an activated form of methionine and serves as a supplier of methyl groups for the synthesis of many plastic and biologically active substances in the body. It is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Normalizes metabolism and liver function, stimulates the reparative processes of the mucous membrane with ulcerative lesions.

Vitamin U has the ability to methylate histamine, which leads to decreased secretion and analgesic effect. It is believed that the mechanism of action of vitamin U is associated with the stimulation of healing of the damaged membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.

The drug is used for the prevention and treatment of pigs with gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastrology and hepatosis.

For preventive purposes, the drug is fed to animals with food in a daily dose (mg / kg body weight): sows 1.5; sucking piglets 3; older piglets and young pigs 10. Duration of use no more than 35 days.

For the prevention of diseases in piglets of the first days of life, the drug is prescribed 10-15 days before farrowing and in the first 10 days of the suction period.

For therapeutic purposes, the drug is used in a dose exceeding the prophylactic by 2 times, in combination with therapeutic agents until the animals recover.

In recommended doses, the drug does not cause complications and side effects in animals. There are no contraindications to its use.
